Trump to Meet with China’s President
President Trump said Friday he would meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping at a summit in South Korea next month, marking the first in-person meeting between the two leaders in Trump’s second term.
Trump spoke with Xi by phone on Friday, with the Chinese leader giving his approval of a deal for U.S. companies to take control of TikTok’s U.S. operations in a discussion that also included tariffs and the war in Ukraine.
Trump said in a social media post Friday after that he would meet with Xi in person at a summit in South Korea later this fall and that he will “go to China in the early part of next year.”
The TikTok deal will reportedly see a group of U.S. firms, including Oracle, step in to enable TikTok to continue operating in the U.S.

Kamala Fires Away at Democrats
Former Vice President Kamala Harris’ new memoir, 107 Days, won’t be published until Tuesday, but excerpts and leaks have already riled up the Democratic Party with her criticism of party leaders.
The book recounts the compressed 107 days of her presidential campaign last fall, focusing on political rivals as well as her boss, former President Joe Biden.
Of Biden, Harris said his decision to run was “reckless,” that he kept making “physical and verbal stumbles,” and that he called her just minutes before her crucial debate with President Trump to complain that Harris’ team was bad-mouthing him.
The book also explains how she settled on her choice for vice president. She writes that she preferred then-Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, but was afraid voters would reject a ticket with a Black woman and a gay man. Buttigieg expressed surprise at that calculation.
She said she rejected Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro because he seemed too ambitious, leaving Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate instead.
