Good Morning! On this day in 1963, the Pro Football Hall of Fame opened to the public in Canton, Ohio. The NFL was founded in Canton in 1920 and the Canton Bulldogs, featuring Jim Thorpe, were early professional football champions.
Did you know: Jim Thorpe was also the first person to win both the pentathlon and decathlon in the same Olympics, and the award given to the best defensive back in college football is named in his honor.

Georgia Shooting Suspect and Father Appear in Court
The father of Apalachee High School shooting suspect Colt Gray appeared in a Georgia courtroom on Friday, facing charges of involuntary manslaughter, second-degree murder, and cruelty to children for allowing his son to possess a weapon.
The charges against Colin Gray come five months after Michigan parents Jennifer and James Crumbley were convicted and sentenced for not securing a firearm before their son’s school shooting in 2021.
Colt Gray, the 14-year-old alleged gunman in the Apalachee High School shooting, also appeared in court on Friday and was advised he faces life without parole for killing four and injuring several. The next hearing was scheduled for December 4, and Gray’s lawyers didn’t ask for bail to be set.
Both father and son remained in custody following their court appearances Friday morning.

Jobs Report Falls Short of Expectations
The U.S. economy added 142,000 jobs in August, falling short of the expected 165,000, while the unemployment rate decreased to 4.2% from 4.3% in July, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The new report also included significant downward revisions for June and July, showing a slowdown in job growth while unemployment has steadily risen over the past year.
Markets reacted negatively to the August jobs report, with stock futures ticking downward and U.S. Treasury yields falling, indicating investors are seeking safer assets amid economic uncertainty.

Lists: World’s Most Unusual Lakes
A list from LoveExploring highlights 30 unusual lakes from around the world, including color-shifting crater lakes and bioluminescent waters in Australia.
Palau’s Eil Malk Island Lake is populated with near-stingless golden jellyfish, and the emerald-green Micronesian waters create, as one visitor reported, a “lava lamp” effect for swimmers.
Croatia’s Plitvice Lakes, a world heritage site, features 16 interconnected lakes linked by waterfalls. The system’s striking colors, caused by sunlight and minerals, draw over a million visitors yearly to hike its trails and paddle in the calm waters.
Australia’s Gippsland Lakes dazzle with occasional blue-green bioluminescence on summer nights. This phenomenon, caused by Noctiluca scintillans organisms, transforms the waterway into a natural light show. You can see the full list here.
