Good morning! On this day in 1971, a man calling himself D.B. Cooper boarded a one-way flight to Seattle, held the passengers ransom for $200,000, then jumped out of another airplane and disappeared into the night—still the only unsolved case of air piracy in commercial aviation.

Storms in Forecast for Thanksgiving Travel
A major storm dumped heavy snow and record rain in California on Saturday, while winter storm warnings were in effect from the Northeast to central Appalachia.
The holiday week will start with stormy conditions on the West Coast before moving over the Great Lakes. Nearly 80 million people are expected to travel at least 50 miles or more on the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday afterward.
A low-pressure system will bring rain to the Southeast early on Thanksgiving Day before heading to the Northeast, where areas from Boston to New York could see rain and strong winds.

New York to Close Migrant Shelters
New York will shutter 12 migrant shelters before the end of the year.
Two hotels-turned-migrant shelters in the city have already closed, while 10 others across the state are earmarked for closure by Dec. 31.
City taxpayers were footing a $352 nightly bill per migrant with just $130 of that total going to the hotels for housing. The remaining payments covered costs such as social services, food, and cleaning.
Migrants at Long Island City shelter say they have been served moldy sandwiches, meals that smell foul, and food that is still partially frozen.
