Israeli Leader Avoids Drone Strike

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was not harmed by a drone strike on his house on Saturday.

Netanyahu and his wife were not in their home in the coastal city of Caesarea during the early morning strike. The Israeli military said approximately 55 rockets were fired into Israel from Lebanon on Saturday as Israel continues to attack targets linked to the Iran-backed Hezbollah group.

It is not the first time recently that Netanyahu has come under fire: In September, Israel intercepted a ballistic missile that was headed to Ben Gurion Airport as Netanyahu’s plane was landing.

More Blackouts in Cuba

As Cuba struggled to recover from an island-wide electrical blackout, the system suffered a second malfunction Saturday.

More than 10 million people were left without power after the first failure on Friday afternoon. Workers restored some power by Saturday, but the malfunction slowed their progress and the nation experienced a second total blackout. Water supply was also interrupted, as there was no electricity to power the pumps.

Cuba’s government has blamed unreliable service on aging infrastructure, rising demand and fuel shortages, which were made worse when Hurricane Milton interrupted deliveries.

“Lieutenant Dan” Lands in Jail

Two hurricanes couldn’t drive the Florida man known as “Lieutenant Dan,” from his makeshift dockside home in Tampa.

But police caught up to Joseph Malinowski on Friday.

Malinowski, a 54-year-old amputee, became a TikTok celebrity when he rode out Hurricanes Helene and Milton on his 20-foot sailboat. He refused to leave, even after high winds caused his boat to crash into a wall.

Officers warned Malinowski Thursday that he was creating a health hazard because he did not have a proper sanitation system on his unregistered vessel, police said.

He was charged on Friday with trespassing and failure to appear in court on previous charges of operating an unregistered vehicle and having no valid driver’s license. On Saturday, he remained in jail.
