Good Morning! On this day in 1933, Utah became the 36th state to ratify the 21st Amendment, repealing the 18th Amendment and bringing an end to the era of national prohibition of alcohol.
We all love our pets, but perhaps you think yours is not so ready for a modeling career. Good news! There’s an online community that specializes in hilarious photos of various unphotogenic animals. We recommend it for a good laugh.
We’re flying today with our sponsors from Pacaso, offering a real estate investing opportunity you won’t want to miss.

Trump Eyes DeSantis to Replace Hegseth
President-elect Donald Trump is considering Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as a possible replacement for Pete Hegseth, his controversial nominee for Secretary of Defense, sources report.
Hegseth’s nomination has come under fire over allegations of misconduct, including a 2017 sexual assault accusation he denies, as well as financial mismanagement, public intoxication, and opposition from several Republican senators.
Despite this, Hegseth has stated he will not withdraw from consideration, citing support from Donald Trump and a commitment to “keep fighting.”
Sources have confirmed that Trump has directly discussed the Defense Secretary position with DeSantis, who is reportedly “very much in contention.” DeSantis is a former U.S. Navy JAG officer and Bronze Star recipient.

UnitedHealthcare CEO Killed in Targeted Murder
UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, 50, was fatally shot Wednesday morning outside the Hilton hotel in Midtown Manhattan in what police described as a “premeditated, targeted attack.”
Surveillance footage captured the hooded gunman at a nearby Starbucks shortly before the shooting. The NYPD has released photos of the suspect, including one of him apparently aiming a handgun. See photos here.
The suspect reportedly waited near the scene before firing multiple shots, striking Thompson in the back and leg, and fleeing on an e-Citi Bike into Central Park.
Thompson, in town to speak at an investor conference, had reportedly received threats related to his role as CEO of America’s largest private insurer.

Woman Vanishes in Sinkhole Searching for Cat
A 64-year-old woman disappeared on Monday in Unity Township, Pennsylvania, after a sinkhole suddenly formed as she searched for her cat, Pepper. See photos here.
Elizabeth Pollard’s car was found nearby with her 5-year-old granddaughter safe inside, who told authorities her grandmother didn’t return after leaving to find the cat.
Authorities believe the sinkhole, linked to a former coal mine, gave way beneath her. A shoe believed to belong to Pollard was found 30 feet below the surface.
Rescue crews worked Wednesday evening under dangerous conditions to try to rescue Pollard, using cameras and excavation equipment to navigate the unstable mine.
