Good Morning! On this date in 1671, Thomas Blood, an Irish adventurer better known as “Colonel Blood,” was captured attempting to steal the Crown Jewels from the Tower of London. King Charles II was so impressed with Blood’s audacity, that he made Blood a court member with an annual pension.
Speaking of audacity,a Flyover staffer’s wife recently said he was no longer allowed to call mowing the lawn a chore. She said he was having too much fun. Our writer in question had this to say in his defense: “I will admit I do enjoy the 42-inch mowing deck, zero-turns, and the rumble of 22 horses. But it’s still a chore. I have to put gas in it, and the cup holders were extra.”
His wife thinks Flyover readers will agree with her. Let us know what you think in the poll below!

Greene Fails to Oust Johnson
The House moved quickly Wednesday to strike down a motion by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene to oust Speaker Mike Johnson in a lopsided 359-43 vote.
Greene has made numerous statements and threats, dating back to March, about forcing a vote if Johnson advanced a foreign aid package with funds for Ukraine. The measure was overwhelmingly approved last month.
Standing before House members on Wednesday, Greene read a list of transgressions she believed Johnson had committed as Speaker. Some of her colleagues were heard booing her as she called for a vote. See Greene call for a vote here.
196 Republicans and 163 Democrats voted to kill Greene’s motion; 11 Republicans and 32 Democrats voted to move forward with the motion.
Biden Pivots on Immigration
The Biden administration will propose new immigration rules today, affecting migrants with criminal records or those ineligible for asylum in the U.S.
Under the proposed changes, migrants crossing the border illegally and requesting asylum would be subjected to interviews. Those who fail the interview would face immediate deportation.
New rules would also allow officials to reject and deport migrants who pose a danger to public safety or national security soon after they cross the border. U.S. law already bars migrants in those categories from entering the country.
President Biden’s abrupt pivot to border security and immigration policy follows a letter sent to the White House Tuesday by 15 House Democrats calling on him to act. Many of the Democrats who signed the letter are facing tough reelection contests.
Air Force Airlifts Cruise Ship Passengers
A U.S. Air Force rescue team airlifted two cruise ship passengers 400 miles off the Atlantic coast over the weekend, and photos have now emerged of the event.
The Carnival cruise ship Venezia was returning from a tour of the Caribbean when one of its passengers had a medical emergency. The Air Force dispatched two HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters, along with two airplanes needed to refuel the helicopters three times during the journey.
A pararescue team descended to the Venezia’s deck and returned to the chopper with a male passenger and his mother tow, and they treated the patient during the trip to a New York hospital. Carnival hasn’t revealed the nature of the medical emergency.
