Haley, Ramaswamy Spar at GOP Debate
The third GOP presidential debate was more orderly than the first two, despite Vivek Ramaswamy’s continued attacks on Nikki Haley over China and her daughter’s use of TikTok. Her response: “You’re just scum.“
Substantively, the first hour focused on foreign affairs, and the second hour on domestic issues. None of the candidates attacked Donald Trump directly and his name barely came up, even though he’s leading in the polls by more than 40 points.
Trump himself skipped the debate and instead held a rally for the Cuban-American community in Hialeah, Fla., where lines stretched for blocks hours ahead of time.

House Subpoenas Biden Family Members
The House Judiciary Committee issued subpoenas for Hunter Biden and his uncle James Biden, brother of President Joe Biden, as part of its ongoing impeachment investigation.
Additionally, the committee has requested testimony from other family members, including Sara Biden, wife of James, and Hallie Biden, widow of President Biden’s son Beau.
Hunter’s lawyer said the president’s son is “eager” to testify in a public forum, while the White House and other leading Democrats denounced the investigation as an evidence-free “smear campaign.”

Fight Looms Over History’s Biggest Treasure
Colombia declared a national mission to raise the “Holy Grail of shipwrecks,” the sunken Spanish galleon San Jose with its lost treasure of 200 tons of gold, silver, and emeralds worth up to $20 billion. See video of it here.
The ship sank off Colombia in 1708, and the wreck wasn’t discovered by Colombian divers until 2015. But a U.S. salvage company claims it found the wreck in 1981 and is fighting in arbitration for $10 billion, or half the treasure.
In its arbitration filing, Colombian officials say the U.S. firm gave the wrong coordinates in its report and never actually found what it calls “the biggest treasure in the history of humanity.”
