Answer: It stands for “Quick Response,” and was first developed by a Toyota subsidiary in 1994 as a way to track car parts in manufacturing. Today they’re designed to be read by smartphones, simply by pointing the phone’s camera at the QR bar code. Otherwise how would you be able to read a modern menu?
