Question: How were nachos invented?
Answer: Nachos were invented during the 1940s in Piedras Negras, Mexico, at a local restaurant called the Victory Club by Ignacio “Nacho” Anaya. A group of military wives from Eagle Pass, Texas entered the closed restaurant and asked for something to eat. Anaya didn’t want to disappoint the women. He fried up some corn tortilla-like totopos and topped them with melted Colby cheese and sliced jalapeños to create the earliest example of what we’ve come to know and love as nachos.
