Answer: Jakarta, with 42 million people, has now been ranked as the world’s biggest city, based on the new U.N. World Urbanization Prospects 2025 report issued in November. That’s the first revision since 2018, when Tokyo was the largest city, and Jakarta was ranked 33rd.
