Feds Indict Trump For Events of Jan. 6
Donald Trump was indicted for a third time Tuesday, this time on four federal charges in connection with the events of Jan. 6, 2021 at the Capitol.
The charges include conspiracy to defraud the U.S.; conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding; obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding; and conspiracy against rights. Trump’s arraignment will be Thursday at 4 p.m.
Special Counsel Jack Smith described Jan. 6 as a “criminal scheme” to keep Trump in office after the election. Trump denounced the charges, comparing them to Nazi-era persecutions. | NASA Error Cuts Contact with Voyager 2
NASA’s Voyager 2, launched in 1977 and still operating in deep space 12 billion miles from Earth, had its communications cut off by a wrong command sent by flight controllers that misaligned the antenna.
Officials say they’ve picked up a weak “heartbeat” signal from the craft, indicating it’s still broadcasting, and they’re trying to turn its antenna around. If not, they hope an automatic reset in October fixes the problem.
Voyager 2 was launched a few weeks after Voyager 1, and both ships have since left the solar system for interstellar space. Voyager 1 is now 15 billion miles from Earth, humanity’s most distant spacecraft. | Man Travels to Every Nation Using No Planes
Danish traveler Thor Pedersen visited every country in the world without flying to any of them. The continuous trip took 10 years and 10 passports to make it to 203 different nations, some of them disputed territories.
Instead of airplanes, Pederson traveled by foot, car, bus, train, and boat — including 37 container ships. He said while other people have visited every country, he’s the only one to do it without flying and in one continuous trip.
The biggest complication came in early 2020, when he became stranded in Hong Kong for months because of the Covid lockdown. He says a documentary of his travels is in the works.
