Trump Prosecutor Accused of ‘Improper Relationship’
A co-defendant in Donald Trump’s Georgia case accused District Attorney Fani Willis of hiring an alleged romantic partner to prosecute Trump and benefitting financially from that relationship, according to a new court filing.
The “bombshell filing,” as the Atlanta Journal-Constitution called it, seeks dismissal of the charges and disqualification of the D.A. from further prosecution of the case.
The filing alleges that special prosecutor Nathan Wade has been paid about $650,000 in legal fees authorized by Willis. It claims that she and Wade took vacations together with that money.
The motion presents no evidence of the relationship but claims that sources have confirmed it. Willis’ office said they would respond through “appropriate court filings.”
Huge Winter Storm Freezes Much of U.S.
A massive winter storm knocked out power to over 400,000 people in 12 states on Tuesday. A brutal freeze is expected to blanket the East Coast and bring major snowfalls to the Midwest later this week.
Nearly 200 million people are under wind and storm advisories as winter storms impact the eastern half of the country. Nearly 7,000 flights were delayed and over 1,800 flights were cancelled through Tuesday.
The political impact will be felt in Iowa, where snow and extreme temperatures are hindering plans for the Iowa caucuses. Candidate trips are being canceled, and caucus night could be the coldest since 1972, impacting turnout.
No. 1 on the list, cited by nearly half of those surveyed, is underestimating the impact of inflation, and No. 2 is underestimating how long you’ll live.
Experts were divided on the risks posed by investment strategies, but a majority of advisors said investing too conservatively is a bigger risk than investing too aggressively. The full list is here.
