Vance, Walz Keep Debate Civil
In perhaps the most civil debate in recent memory, vice-presidential candidates Sen. JD Vance and Gov. Tim Walz frequently agreed on issues as they discussed policies ranging from immigration to abortion, foreign relations, and the economy.
Both Vance and Walz saved their sharpest critiques in Tuesday night’s debate for the candidates atop their respective tickets.
Vance repeatedly criticized Vice President Harris on immigration and the economy, while Walz attacked former President Trump’s abortion stance and actions on Jan. 6.
The debate lasted over 90 minutes and closed with Walz highlighting his ticket’s celebrity endorsements, while Vance focused on change and making the economy more affordable.

Iran Fires Missile Barrage at Israel
Iran launched a barrage of nearly 200 ballistic missiles targeting central and southern Israel on Tuesday night, with explosions reported in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
All Israelis were ordered to take shelter, with few serious injuries reported. The army has since allowed civilians to leave shelters but remains on high alert. Follow live updates here.
Israel’s Iron Dome intercepted many of the missiles. U.S. Navy destroyers fired about a dozen interceptors at Iranian missiles as part of American support.
The Israeli military said the attack, impacting around 10 million civilians, was in response to the recent killing of top Hezbollah officials and its limited incursions across the Lebanese border.

Dockworker Strike Hits U.S. Economy
Dockworkers walked out on strike from 36 ports along the eastern U.S. Tuesday, threatening major supply chain disruptions and new inflationary pressure.
A strike lasting weeks could cost the economy between $3.8 and $4.5 billion per day, according to J.P. Morgan estimates.
Key goods at risk include 75% of the nation’s banana imports, other perishables like meat, 80% of imported alcohol, and thousands of cars and auto parts.
Experts warn that a one-week shutdown could take four to six weeks to recover. The Biden administration is monitoring the situation but says it has no plans to intervene.
