Trump to Skip Debate, Speak to Union
Donald Trump intends to skip the second GOP primary debate next week and travel instead to Detroit to give a speech to striking United Auto Workers.
Trump, who has a commanding lead over other Republican candidates, says he’s already focused on the general election against President Biden and will use the Detroit trip to make a primetime speech in front of union workers.
The GOP candidates who have qualified for the debate so far include Vivek Ramaswamy, Nikki Haley, Chris Christie, Mike Pence, Ron DeSantis, and Tim Scott. Asa Hutchinson and Doug Burgum appear not to have qualified yet.
Deion Sanders Decries Death Threats
Last Saturday’s double-overtime Colorado-Colorado State game had college football fans on the edge of their seats, and the national attention increased after Colorado two-way star Hunter Travis was sent to the hospital by a late hit from CSU defensive back Henry Blackburn — who’s now receiving death threats.
Colorado coach Deion Sanders came to Blackburn’s defense, saying no football game should lead to death threats against a college student. At the same time, he said Travis, a dominant force on his team, would miss the next three games.
Under Sanders, Colorado has become the hottest team in football. Their game with CSU was ESPN’s fifth most-watched game of all time. The team is 3-0 and plays the Oregon Ducks, also 3-0, on Saturday.
Fall TV Season Arrives Without Shows
The network Fall TV premiere season is upon us, but the months-long actors’ and writers’ strikes have left the broadcast network with slim offerings. ABC announced that it would simulcast 10 more games of Monday Night Football than originally planned because it has no programming.
All three networks are leaning heavily on animation, reality TV, shows from overseas, and, in CBS’s case, even repeating its popular “Yellowstone” series from the very first episode. Here’s a full schedule of broadcast TV premieres.
One cable network that’s very much looking forward to the next few months is the Hallmark Channel. It announced its lineup of 40 new holiday movies for the Christmas season, with the first debuting on Oct. 20.

The Healthy Alternative to Sugary Sports Drinks
It’s no secret that a large portion of the country is experiencing high summer temperatures. Now more than ever, it’s important to stay hydrated.
It’s easy to forget that our sweat isn’t just water. But why is it that we drink only water after a long run on a hot day? Our sweat consists of water and salt, so next time you’re reaching for that glass of water … remember to replenish those electrolytes!
After years of mixing his own electrolyte blends and frustration with a lack of healthy options on the market, LMNT Co-Founder and former Navy SEAL Robb Wolf used his experience as a biochemist to create his own product.
LMNT is your chance for a clean electrolyte boost after a hot summer day or intense workout. It tastes great, making it the perfect cocktail mixer or hangover cure.
