Trump Lawyers Huddle With Justice Dept.
Donald Trump’s lawyers met with Department of Justice attorneys as his third federal indictment looms, and Trump later described the session as a “productive meeting.”
An earlier news report from NBC indicated that an indictment over the events of Jan. 6 was imminent, but Trump denied that: “No indication of notice was given during the meeting — Do not trust the Fake News on anything!”
Legal troubles haven’t slowed Trump down. He’s scheduled to appear in Iowa today with other 2024 GOP presidential candidates and then hold a rally in Erie, Pa., on Saturday. | Senators Push for New Board to Police Big Tech
The surprising team of Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Lindsey Graham have introduced a bill to create a new federal agency to regulate the major online platforms.
The new agency, to be called the Digital Consumer Protection Commission, would police Big Tech firms in cases of anti-competitive actions and consumer privacy violations.
Both parties in Congress have struggled to find a way to control online abuses. This bill “makes clear that reining in Big Tech platforms is a top priority on both sides of the aisle,” Warren said. | Angels Bet Their Season on Superstar Ohtani
The Los Angeles Angels say they won’t trade Shohei Ohtani, their superstar pitcher/hitter who some consider the greatest baseball player of all time, even though Ohtani will be a free agent when the season ends.
The decision costs the Angels hundreds of millions in potential trade revenue, but the team says it would rather keep Ohtani and try to get into their first World Series in 20 years.
On Thursday, Ohtani became the only player in history to pitch a complete-game shutout in the first game of a double-header, then hit two home runs in the second game. (See Video)
