Good Morning! On this day in 1971, a man using the alias of Dan Cooper hijacked a commercial airliner and parachuted out with 200,000 in cash. He was never officially found (although some think they’ve ID’d him), and he became known as D.B. Cooper after a reporter misheard his name.

Train Derailment Starts Fire In Kentucky

A train carrying molten sulfur derailed in Kentucky yesterday, starting a blaze that took hours for specialized crews to put out, and Governor Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency in response.

When it burns, molten sulfur releases sulfur dioxide, a pollutant that irritates eyes, skin, and the respiratory tract, among other issues. A nearby town was recommended to evacuate on Thanksgiving day as a result.

CSX, the company operating the train, paid for lodging and Thanksgiving meals for residents affected. Crews are monitoring the air to determine when locals should return to the area.

Dublin Erupts After Knife Attack

Protesters and rioters took to the streets of Dublin after a stabbing attack outside of an elementary school.

Three children were injured, along with two adults. A woman and a child were treated for serious injuries.

Irish police said they weren’t treating the incident as an act of terrorism, but a group of about 100 people clashed with local officers and set a police vehicle on fire—as well as an immigration center.
