Murdoch Leaves Role as Head of Fox
After almost 40 years at the helm, Rupert Murdoch is stepping down as the head of Fox Corp. (including Fox News) and is giving the reins to his son Lachlan, the current CEO.
Murdoch, 92, will move into the new role of Chairman Emeritus. He launched Fox News in 1996, and it continues to dominate the news ratings. Observers say Lachlan largely follows in his father’s path regarding news and politics.
Actual ownership of the company is more complicated. Murdoch has four children, and they each own a share. Like the show “Succession,” Lachlan’s siblings could join together and overrule him on corporate issues.
Who Are the Best Employers in Your State?
Forbes Magazine, working with research firm Statista, surveyed 70,000 workers in all 50 states to determine the best employers in every state.
The survey asked employees whether they’d recommend their company to others and to evaluate their working conditions, compensation packages, potential for development, and more.
The final listing is sortable by state and company, and it ranks the 50 best employers in each state. Click here to find out which companies make their employees the happiest in your area.
Sports Illustrated Opening Sports Resorts
Sports Illustrated has partnered with Travel+Leisure to launch sports-themed resorts and lifestyle complexes in popular college sports towns.
The first one is planned for Tuscaloosa, home of Alabama’s Crimson Tide, set to open in 2025 with a full-service hotel, vacation membership club, wellness center, dining options, and access to nearly 70 years of Sports Illustrated content.
The companies plan to announce other college town destinations in the near future, perhaps based on Travel+Leisure’s list of top 25 college towns.
