White House Backs Off Electric Car Push

The Biden administration reportedly plans to relax its proposal for strict limits on tailpipe emissions designed to push Americans to buy electric vehicles by 2030.

The rollback in the White House position was a result of strong lobbying from car manufacturers and dealers, who said the original timetable wasn’t feasible, considering consumers’ current unwillingness to buy electric vehicles.

The original proposal was to have 67% of all cars on the road be electric by 2032; the current number is 8%. Reports say the new proposal won’t require that kind of sharp increase until several years later, a relief for car companies.

Abuse Call Ends With Police, Paramedic Dead

Two police officers and a firefighter-paramedic were killed Sunday while responding to a domestic abuse call in the Minneapolis suburb of Burnsville. A SWAT team killed the shooter.

Officials said the officers arrived at the house about 2:30 a.m. to find a man armed and barricaded with family members, including multiple children. The shooting started about three hours later. The paramedic was shot while trying to help a wounded officer.

Police swarmed the neighborhood, and “at approximately 8 a.m., the suspect was reported to be dead.” City officials said the other family members were safe.

List: Ranking Home Prices Across U.S.

The most expensive neighborhood in America is South of Market in San Francisco, where the average home costs $5,415 per square foot, while the least expensive is Homewood North in Allegheny County, PA., at an average price of $29 per sq. ft.

Those are the extreme ends of a study of the most and least expensive neighborhoods by American Home Shield insurance analysts. Not surprisingly, the priciest neighborhoods are in California, New York, and Florida.
