Good morning! On this day in 1945, Winston Churchill, Harry S. Truman, and Joseph Stalin gathered in Soviet-occupied Germany for the Potsdam Conference. It was a monumental negotiation between the Allied forces over the divisions of post-war Europe.
In today’s edition, we’re discussing a young champion at Wimbledon, the return of a missing woman in Alabama, and a moose riding shotgun in Canada.

Alcaraz Wins Wimbledon Title
Twenty year-old Carlos Alcaraz took down Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final on Sunday.
Alcaraz entered the match with the world’s #1 tennis ranking and only a 38% chance of winning, according to oddsmakers—a contradiction that can only be explained by Djokovic’s historical dominance and the Spanish Wonder Kid’s inexperience on Wimbledon’s grass courts.
Djokovic hadn’t lost a single match at Wimbledon since 2017. Alcaraz had only played two tournaments at the All England Club, home of England’s swanky major championship.
In the first set, Djokovic dominated and appeared ready to win another title, but Alcaraz fought back and won a tiebreak in the second. He completed the victory in the fifth set, and it was the third-longest game in Wimbledon history: four hours and 42 minutes.
Djokovic gave his opponent credit after the match: “I’ve never faced a player like Alcaraz.” | Missing Alabama Woman Returns Home
On Thursday evening, Carlethia ‘Carlee’ Nichole Russell noticed a toddler walking alone beside a highway outside of Birmingham. She notified the police and then, while on the phone with her brother’s girlfriend, approached the child and asked if he was okay.
At that point, Carlee screamed and said nothing else on the phone call. Police found her car with a door open and her belongings strewn about, and there was no sign of Carlee or the child. A massive search effort involving several agencies began.
On Saturday night, she arrived home on foot. She was then taken to the hospital and later released.
The family has yet to release a statement about Carlee’s condition, but before she was found, they said that the child on the highway was used as a “lure” by criminals. | Jason Aldean Rushes off Stage
Country artist Jason Aldean ran off the stage in Connecticut while suffering from a heat-related condition. (Video)
Aldean later posted a video on social media saying that he was doing fine and had been dehydrated after playing golf all day. Temperatures at the event were close to 90, and a representative said that Aledean had a heat stroke—although the singer downplayed that claim in his video and said “I don’t think it was quite that serious.”
A representative from the venue said that the concert will be rescheduled.
