Good morning! Today in 1921, Babe Ruth hit his 139th home run, making him the all-time HR king, a title he kept for half a century. On the same date in 1928, Ty Cobb slugged his 4,000th hit, a feat not matched until 1984.
In today’s edition, we’re talking about Tucker Carlson’s big sponsorship deal, the discovery of the shiniest planet in space, and buried treasure in Kentucky.

Tucker Wins Seven-Figure Ad Deal
Tucker Carlson has signed a major ad deal worth more than $1 million for his Twitter show with PublicSq, an online marketplace for companies with conservative values.
The deal may also include a significant investment in Carlson’s new digital media company. The former Fox anchor is seeking “hundreds of millions” of dollars to launch the company, possibly in alliance with Twitter.
PublicSq ads are expected to start appearing on Carlson’s show in late August. Omeed Malik, one of PublicSq’s principals, is also fundraising for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Democrat Robert F. Kennedy Jr. | States Warn CEOs On Affirmative Action
GOP attorneys general from 13 states sent a letter to CEOs of the 100 biggest U.S. companies warning them about using race as a factor in hiring and promotions.
The letter cited the recent Supreme Court ruling banning affirmative action for college admissions and threatened legal action if the CEOs didn’t end race preferences at their companies as well.
“If you choose not to do so,” the attorneys general wrote, “know that you will be held accountable — sooner rather than later.” | Manchin to Speak at ‘No Labels’ Event
Sen. Joe Manchin has spooked Democrats by agreeing to be the headline speaker at an event Monday in New Hampshire for third-party alternative “No Labels.”
Manchin has not announced if he’s running for re-election in West Virginia, and Democrats worry he’ll run as a spoiler candidate for the moderate No Labels party.
The fear for Democrats is that Manchin will siphon votes from President Biden in a close race, giving an edge to the GOP candidate. Moreover, the party will almost certainly lose a Senate seat to a Republican if Manchin doesn’t seek re-election.
