Tucker Interview Jolts Journalists
Tucker Carlson’s interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin could be released as early as today and has already stirred up a firestorm of criticism from traditional media.
Carlson posted this four-minute video on X explaining why he was interviewing Putin, saying Americans deserved to hear all sides, whether they liked Putin or not.
The post has racked up over 90 million views, and the X app has rocketed to No. 1 in the App Store charts as people download it in anticipation of the interview.
Several major news organizations noted they had requested interviews with Putin as well but have been turned down. Russian officials said they felt Carlson was much less biased.
Haley Loses to ‘None of These Candidates’
Republican Presidential candidate Nikki Haley suffered another primary election loss in Nevada Tuesday, except this time, she lost to “none of these candidates.”
In a ballot that didn’t feature former President Trump, Nevada voters preferred anyone but Haley by a 2-1 margin. No delegates were at stake in the primary; they’ll be awarded after Thursday’s caucus.
Haley’s campaign avoided Nevada, where Trump had a strong lead. He wasn’t on the primary ballot, but his allies pushed an effort to get voters to select “none of the above” rather than Haley.
The next Republican primary will take place on Feb. 24th in Haley’s home state of South Carolina. She faces another tough contest there, trailing Trump by more than 30% in the polls.
New Sports Streaming Service Unveiled
A new sports streaming platform announced as a joint venture by ESPN, Fox Sports, and Warner Bros Discovery will likely cost over $40 a month and further disrupt the embattled cable TV business.
The new company would offer an all-in-one package of programming that would include sports channels such as ESPN, TNT, and FS1, making up what the industry calls a “skinny bundle” — cheaper than cable but more than a single streaming service.
While it could cut into the traditional cable business, it also holds risks for the partners. Analysts say it’s unclear how large an audience there is for a sports service at that price that doesn’t include providers like CBS Sports and NBC Sports.
