Good morning! Yesterday, we sent a note to many of you asking for feedback on The Flyover. The response has been overwhelming, and we’re humbled that so many of you sent encouragement and ideas! We’re reading through each of them, and forgive us if we can’t respond to all, but we appreciate your input.
Believe it or not, it was just 16 years ago today that the original Apple iPhone went on sale in the U.S. It may seem like the iPhone’s been with us forever, but the first 8GB version sold for $499 on June 29, 2007.
In today’s edition, we’re discussing an ongoing series of drownings at a deadly beach in Florida, Elon Musk getting fight training from an MIT scientist, and a look at the shortlist for best space photography in 2023.
Have any suggestions? Please send us a note and let us know. We read every email and value your ideas!

House Targets Biden China Connection
The House Oversight Committee released text messages from 2017 that show Hunter Biden tying his father to his business dealings, despite President Biden’s denial this week that he had any involvement.
In one message, Hunter tells a Chinese partner that he’s sitting with his father and that if a deal wasn’t settled immediately, they’d face Hunter’s “ability to forever hold a grudge.”
In another message, Hunter demands $10 million from a Chinese executive, noting, “Bidens are the best I know at doing exactly what the Chairman wants from this (partnership).”
Hunter Biden pled guilty last week to tax charges in a deal that avoided jail time, but the House is zeroing in on the issue of President Biden’s involvement in possible corruption and now possibly a cover-up, as charged by several whistle-blowers. | Airlines Warn of Travel Delays for July 4
The July 4 holiday weekend is shaping up as a major test for airlines, with delays and cancellations already hitting the East Coast — nearly 1,000 flights were canceled Wednesday and 4,800 were delayed.
For travelers, it’s a perfect storm: a combination of thunderstorms in the East, staffing shortages at airlines and air traffic control towers, and all of it hitting during the busiest travel days of the summer.
Experts say that if you need to fly, you should arrive early at the airport, pack your essentials in carry-on luggage, and know your legal rights in case of problems (Click Here to Review). | America’s Deadliest Beach Claims Ex-NFL QB
The deadliest beach in America is in Panama City, Fla., and it claimed three drowning victims last week, including ex-NFL quarterback Ryan Mallet, who sets records as a college star at Arkansas.
The Gulf beaches in that area, part of what Floridians call the “Redneck Riviera,” are home to deadly riptides. Saturday alone saw 39 rescues, along with three deaths in a five-hour span.
Sheriff Tommy Ford expressed frustration at people’s unwillingness to obey signs, danger flags, $500 fines, and lifeguard warnings in their zeal to swim. The area has seen seven deaths in the past nine days.
