Good Morning! On this day in 1937, Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan disappeared while flying over the Pacific Ocean in route to Howland Island. Noonan was declared dead the following year, and Earhart was declared the year after.

Court: Presidents Have Immunity for Official Acts
The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 on Monday that presidents have immunity from criminal prosecution for actions taken in their official role, though not for any unofficial actions.
The decision sends former President Donald Trump’s case back to a lower federal court for determination on whether the charges against him for actions he took regarding the 2020 election results were “official” or not.
Democrats were highly critical of the decision, partly because of the timing–this late in the year means any Trump trial is unlikely to happen before the November election–but also because of the substance of the ruling.
The court’s majority opinion divided presidential conduct into three categories, saying America’s chief executive had “absolute” immunity for “core constitutional powers,” “presumptive” immunity for other official acts, and no immunity for unofficial acts.
Polls: Voters Unimpressed with Biden Post Debate
President Biden’s poor debate performance last week has left voters doubting his cognitive abilities and electability, according to newly released polls.
In a Harvard CAPS-Harris poll released Monday, 66% of respondents, up from 54% in May, said they have doubts about Biden’s fitness. Seventy-four percent surveyed also said Biden showed he was too old to be president.
A Saint Anselm College poll, also released on Monday, found that 44% of New Hampshire voters would back former President Trump if the election was held today, to 42 percent supporting Biden. That’s a 12-point swing from an identical December poll, which found Biden with a 10-point lead in the state.
The same poll showed Trump faring better in the Granite State among moderates (44% to 38%), undeclared voters (40% to 38%), and swing voters (39% to 21%).
Boston Celtics Up for Sale
The Boston Celtics, the reigning NBA champions, are up for sale, according to a statement released by the team’s ownership group on the social media platform X.
The owners cited “estate and family planning considerations” as the reason behind their decision to sell a majority interest in the franchise.
The controlling shareholders, led by Wyc Grousbeck and his partners, including Steve Pagliuca, purchased the Celtics in 2002 for $360 million. In 2023, Forbes valued the team at $4.7 billion, ranking them the fourth most valuable franchise in the NBA.
The managing board expects to sell a majority interest in the team by 2024 or early 2025, with the remaining balance of the sale closing in 2028.
