Weak Economy Drags Biden’s Polling
Only one-third of Americans approve of President Biden’s handling of the economy, according to a recent poll. Even less—24%—say that the national economy is headed in the right direction.
The poor numbers represent a bleak outlook for the President’s campaign for a second term, and they come as he faces a debt ceiling crisis. Meetings with Speaker McCarthy haven’t yet produced a compromise, and the threat of a default on federal debt looms behind the inability to solve the spending disagreement.
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen wrote a letter to Congress yesterday, stating that the government may not be able to pay its bills as early as June 1.

Suspected Killer Quiet in Court
Bryan Kohberger stood silent at his arraignment yesterday.
He’s charged with murdering four students at the University of Idaho last fall, and he chose to have his defense attorney speak for him in Latah County district court—with the exception of saying “yes” when asked if he understood each charge.
The quadruple homicide in Moscow, ID, dominated headlines last November as it spilled over into a manhunt.
The trial is set to begin on October 2nd.
