Harvard President Resigns
Embattled Harvard President Claudine Gay resigned Tuesday in the wake of new accusations of plagiarism as well as ongoing criticism about her testimony to Congress about antisemitism on campus.
Gay was Harvard’s first Black president. She held the post for only six months—the shortest tenure in the university’s history, which goes back to the 17th century.
The Harvard board initially stood behind her after her testimony, but as plagiarism allegations surfaced, the school came under pressure from students and faculty to take action. The current provost, Alan Garber, will serve as interim president.
