Good morning! Today in 1940, Germany launched the attack that became the Battle of Britain, perhaps the greatest aviation battle of WW2. An overwhelmed Royal Air Force rose up to defeat the German Luftwaffe in 100 days.
In today’s edition, we’re talking about the rising cost of a first-class stamp, the new $420,000 all-electric Roll Royce sedan, and an AI press conference that reassured no one when robots said they have no plan to kill us all.
Have any suggestions? Please send us a note and let us know. We read every email and value your ideas!

Note: In our last edition, we accidentally said that President Nixon took America off the gold standard in 1917. Whoops! That would be 1971.

Biden Sends Deadly Cluster Bombs to Ukraine
President Biden’s decision to let Ukraine have cluster bombs has divided Democrats, with many saying the weapons violate the Geneva Convention.
Cluster munitions are banned by 120 countries because they disperse large numbers of tiny bomblets over a wide area. They can land without exploding and then kill civilians who touch them.
Ukrainian officials praised the decision, saying they needed it for their ground war against Russia, but some in Congress called it immoral. | First Class Stamps Cost More Today
The U.S. Post Office raised the price of a first-class stamp by 3 cents, from 63 cents to 66 cents, the third price hike in the last 12 months.
It’s the 17th rate change since 2000 and the shortest time between stamp increases in history.
The Post Office said the increase is necessary to offset higher operating expenses as it struggles to succeed in a ten-year plan to reach profitability. | Tribe Wants Ben & Jerry’s Land Back
The Abenaki Nation would like to discuss getting its tribal land back. Currently, Ben & Jerry’s Burlington, VT, headquarters are sitting on it.
Ben & Jerry’s last week called for America to give back “stolen Indigenous land,” including Mt. Rushmore, drawing criticism and a call to boycott its ice cream.
Don Stevens, chief of the remaining Abenaki Nation tribes, told Newsweek the tribe wanted to reclaim its Vermont land, but Ben & Jerry’s has not publicly responded to calls to return the land.
