Covid Scams: Greatest Grift in US History
Thieves of all stripes stole hundreds of billions of dollars in Covid relief funds over the past three years, arguably the greatest grift in U.S. history, a new AP investigation reveals.
The analysis found the fraudsters ranged from small businesses to outright criminal gangs and were the result of lax oversight from a government anxious to spend trillions with few restrictions.
More than $280 billion was potentially stolen, and another $123 billion was wasted or misspent, representing 10 percent of the total $4.2 trillion the government has so far spent in Covid relief. | Trans Athletes Not Wanted in Women’s Sports
Nearly 70 percent of Americans think birth gender should dictate sports participation, according to a new Gallup Poll.
That percentage is up from 2021, largely because of trans athletes such as Austin Killips, a male who easily came in first in a women’s cycling event this weekend, winning by an enormous five minutes.
Though Democrats are significantly more in favor of letting trans athletes play based on their current identity, even they are split evenly on the issue. A large majority of Republicans and Independents are opposed. | Denver Nuggets Win First NBA Championship
The Denver Nuggets beat the Miami Heat 94-89 Monday night to win their first NBA Championship, 47 years after becoming an NBA team.
Nuggets center Nikola Jokic dominated the entire series, setting several new NBA records. He was voted the 2023 NBA Finals MVP.
Denver began the game by missing 20 of their first 22 three-point attempts, but they overcame the slow start and made critical plays down the stretch to seal the victory. |
