Biden Hits China with New Tariffs

President Biden announced steep tariff increases Tuesday on a range of Chinese products, including quadrupling the tariff on Chinese electric cars to 100%, effectively doubling their price.

The tariffs will also impact Chinese-made batteries, solar cells, medical products, semiconductors, steel, and aluminum. Biden’s plan keeps tariffs put in place by former President Donald Trump while ratcheting up others.

China immediately vowed retaliation and said it would take measures to defend its interests. The new tariffs affect $18 billion in imported Chinese goods.

Trump Team Takes Aim at Cohen

Lawyers for former President Donald Trump began their cross examination of Michael Cohen Tuesday, wasting no time peppering Cohen with questions about posting insulting comments about Trump.

Trump’s lawyers questions teased out the disgraced former attorney’s personal and financial interests. When asked if he wanted to see Trump in jail, Cohen responded, “Sure.”

While on the stand, Cohen also admitted he made more than $3 million for two books he wrote about Trump and was, at times, evasive about comments and conversations he had over the years.

Cohen will face further cross-examination when the trial resumes Thursday.

List: America’s Deadliest Highways

A new study ranks I-4 in Florida, connecting Tampa through Orlando to Daytona Beach, as the deadliest national highway in America in terms of 1.13 “deaths per mile.”

The second most deadly is I-45 in Texas, connecting Dallas and Galveston. Though it’s only 285 miles long, there were 260 deaths during the period studied for a 0.91 death-per-mile ratio.

The study ranks the 25 deadliest highways, most of them interstates in the South. You can see the full list here.
